The Blanket Ministry Evening in Alpharetta, GA is helping the community

ALPHARETTA, GA – For the men and women who gather in Room 267 at Alpharetta Methodist Church, a Tuesday evening is more than a craft night. It is a ministry of presence and prayer, one blanket at a time. On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., volunteers will come together for a Blanket Ministry Evening to create handmade blankets for members of the community who are in need or navigating difficult seasons of life.

Each blanket carries more than warmth. A label stitched onto every piece tells the recipient that the blanket was made with love and that prayers are being lifted on their behalf. The ministry transforms a simple act of handiwork into a tangible expression of compassion, connecting the maker and the recipient through faith even when they may never meet.

Members of the church and community who wish to give a blanket to someone in need do not have to wait for a ministry evening. Baskets filled with completed blankets are available throughout the church during regular hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to take a blanket for a friend, neighbor, or loved one who could use a reminder that they are held in prayer.

The Blanket Ministry Evening is open to all volunteers, regardless of skill level. No prior experience with sewing or crafting is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies if they have them, and to contact Patti Fredlund in advance with any questions.
