OptConnect Achieves Rare ISO Certification Trifecta

OptConnect, a leading global expert in managed cellular IoT connectivity, today announced that it has earned three critical certifications against standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as assessed by Mastermind; namely, the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Information Security), ISO/IEC 27701:2019 (Privacy), and ISO/IEC 42001:2023 (Responsible Artificial Intelligence). OptConnect is the only managed cellular IoT provider to carry all three certifications at the same time.

Rather than pursuing these certifications independently, OptConnect has built a single Integrated Management System (IMS). This IMS framework forces security controls, privacy protections, and AI governance to cohere and reinforce each other, with continuous external auditing to prove operational execution rather than just policy documentation.

The ISO Trifecta includes three certifications that cover distinct, critical operational areas:

  • ISO 27001 (Information Security Management): This foundation standard manages information security risks through the core principles of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. External auditors verified that OptConnect has active, continuously reviewed controls to protect its infrastructure across global lines.

  • ISO 27701 (Privacy Information Management): This certification extends security frameworks specifically to personal data. It governs how OptConnect handles data in both data controller and data processor capacities, helping enterprise customers address legal liabilities under GDPR and CCPA.

  • ISO 42001 (Artificial Intelligence Management): As the newest international standard for AI systems, this certification governs how organizations develop and oversee artificial intelligence. OptConnect’s framework operates on the FATE model: Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethicality, ensuring clear governance around operational AI tools, both developed and leveraged by OptConnect.

Jonathan LeBaron, Director of Information Security and Compliance at OptConnect, emphasized, “OptConnect has taken its security program to a cultural level with the ISO Trifecta. We proved it with a rigorous audit covering a wide range of topics across security, privacy, and AI governance. You won’t find any of our competitors demonstrating the same level of due diligence. The best part is that our customers can only expect us to improve this program year over year. Achieving the ISO Trifecta is really only the beginning of really incredible things to come.”

David Forman, CEO of Mastermind, the accredited management systems certification body that issued these awards, affirmed “Trust is being redefined in a marketplace where AI-driven tools now influence nearly every application, transaction, and operational process. While the industry remains in the early innings of establishing new trust frameworks, OptConnect has embraced independent third-party assurance as a continuous safeguard against evolving security and privacy risks, while proactively mitigating the unique challenges introduced by agentic AI systems.” ”

According to Chris Baird, CEO and President of OptConnect, “Our customers put OptConnect at the center of operations where failure isn’t an option — to securely connect ATMs, smart safes, and other critical infrastructure. With the ISO Trifecta, we are able to prove independently and continuously that we earn the trust they place in us. As AI becomes a greater part of these systems, that proof matters more, not less.”

OptConnect’s ISO certificates and supporting audit documentation are available to customers and procurement teams upon request.
